The scenario is that Engage needs to enter amounts into Source anyway, so it's a waste of their time to enter things into the Civi amount field. And for foreign currencies, this is a real pain because the dollar amount needs to be calculated by hand.

We could hide the core "amount" field, and just rely on source for manually entered stuff. The core amount would be calculated by code using our exchange rates.
