Problem finding tags for tasks
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Sometimes, Phabricator does not offer the tags that I am looking for.

Typing parts of the wanted (or guessed) tags yields inconsistent results or none at all. For instance, trying to get to "MediaWiki-extensions-ContentTranslation" for selection, I type "Content" or "content" without luck, but "trans" does the trick.

If this was more consistent, I would less often have to resort to "unknown" or similar tags.

Event Timeline

I do not think we can fix this in the proposals, as only five proposals are displayed, and those five are projects starting with "ContentTranslation-*". When entering "Project Tags" there is an icon on the very right which allows listing ALL projects and that would be the recommended way. This is also documented in https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Phabricator/Help#Selecting_projects and also linked from https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/How_to_report_a_bug#Reporting_a_new_bug_or_feature_request

You can also change the number of displayed proposals locally by the workaround explained in https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T76732 .

Hence closing this task as declined (though it's a valid problem). I just don't see a better solution and two 'workarounds' exist. If you have better ideas, please share them. :)

I often see more than five proposals, but otherwise, I tend to agree.

During the next times, I shall try the workarounds and see what I can find .

Ah, sorry for not having been clear: Five proposals are shown in the project dropdown in the task view. 10 proposals are shown in other places, like the search in the upper right corner.
