Publish Lessons Learned from Wikimania Hackathon 2016
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Once the feedback survey is closed and I obtain the data, I will create a publish a Lessons Learned page from the Wikimedia Hackathon 2016. It will have changes for next year and things to keep.
I will also include organizer lessons learned.

I will publish it here:
https://wikimania2016.wikimedia.org/wiki/Hackathon/LessonsLearned
I will also add it wherever this ends up being: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T138988
& will also add it to tips for hackathon organizers

Event Timeline

I do not yet have the results from the Wikimania feedback survey, so I am not able to start on this project - @egalvezwmf any idea when these will be shared?

Thanks!

@egalvezwmf: Could you answer the last question please?

I have access to the data, I am not able to process it until after the Dev Summit.

Rfarrand lowered the priority of this task from Medium to Low.Jan 6 2017, 10:19 PM

moving all tasks unrelated to dev summit to low, will readjust after summit.

some of the lessons learned can be found here as published by the WMF Learning and Evaluation team:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Evaluation/Case_studies/Wikimania_Esino_Lario_Survey_Results

I still need to go through the qualitative responses and find some more specifics.

I have started adding details here:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Hackathons/Wikimania_2016_Lessons_Learned
(using a mediawiki page because the wikimania2016 wiki is locked to unauthorized users creating new pages)

OK, the link above has the final of the Wikimania 2016 Lessons Learned.
The suggested changes for next time are being carried over to the planning for this year.
