Portal Page Update: wiktionary.org
Open, Stalled, MediumPublic

Description

The Discovery team has done tremendous work in updating the wikipedia.org site over the last few quarters; using A/B tests to gather data and then promoting the functions/designs that test well into production, with the community's knowledge.

Since this work has begun, the Discovery team's work hasn't gone unnoticed and during Wikimania 2016, a few people mentioned that the wiktionary.org site could use some help - to make it more modern and functional.

This ticket is to document this request and open up the conversation about this possible future work.

Here are screenshots (mobile and desktop) of what the current site looks like:

Change 371656 is a work in progress. In the spirit of the hackathon, I just took the quickest, hackiest path to a mostly working portal. Still to do:

  • Factor out everything in common between the portals
  • Fix localized strings that say “Wikipedia”
  • Check in a wordmark

Marking as stalled...not sure if any movement has been occurring on this.

Jdrewniak moved this task from Features to Code Quality / Tech Debt on the Wikimedia-Portals board.
