The problem resolves by adding a single colon before each line of the first and the last stanzas. There are two distinct aspects to this fault: the display issue on the android device; and the inability to emulate (and thus debug) same in desktop-as-mobile-mode.

I'd say this wikitext is suspect since colons output invalid HTML as well as unsemantic HTML. These are not lists but paragraphs or similar I would guess. Some sort of {{block indent}} template would be appropriate instead.

Agree. At enWS we would discourage the use of colons, and instead encourage proper css.
That said, With the Index: page css templates available you should be able to apply a standard style for <dl><dd> within a work.
