design research project scenarios/journey maps for product team collaborations

Description

Some notes by @JAufrecht during a recent DR/Editing KIT

Goal: describe some basic types of DR product support to help Design Research and PM reach mutual understanding on what the scope of work, roles & responsibilities should be for a given project.

OfficeWiki is probably the best place for this.

Problem definition:
determined by what PO understands about collective needs of users, what DR determines based on samples of users, ither sources.

Examples

1. Generative "front-end research". User study/survey

  • define question
  • determine target population
  • craft survey
  • run survey
  • analyze results

2. Evaluative research. Usability Testing

  • DR defines test tasks together with PO
  • break problem definition into test tasks
  • figure out size and characteristics
  • DR recruits testers
  • PO provides a working prototype (and stability)
  • DR tests prototype
  • feedback, review, repeat - either minor tweaks, or re-think

Event Timeline

I think using the Media wiki page (which will probably move to meta when we do our Communication project end Q1 or beginning of Q2). We do have our methods menu. Maybe we could add the content that is being requested above to the methods menu. That was the intention of the methods menu in the first place.
