Some time ago the styling of hover effects on references was changed, so they now has a dark blue 2px border. This styling triggers reflow of the references, and is very annoying when the references are split over several columns. In that case the whole reference might move from one column to the next.

I believe it would be better to create a hover effect that does not trigger a reflow.
