http://www.wikishia.net/ states that it is "a Wikimedia project"
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

The http://www.wikishia.net/ site contains two buttons in the footer:

This last site, as far as Google Translate can help us, doesn't contain any mention of Wikimedia.

Hypothesis is a good faith copy/paste of the old www.wikipedia.org portal template.

Suggested action is to contact them about this.

Dereckson subscribed.

@Kghbln "a Wikimedia project" with a link to the WMF site is different than "a WMF project", as the first could also designates the movement, the community as a large and the second specifically designates the Foundation.

I've added to task description the URL to their contact form.

@Dereckson That's true but people generally only see the button and do not necessarily follow the link behind it - as it happened to me. Also Wikimedia and WMF are usually seen as being the same. However, we should be precise here so thanks a lot for fluffing up my original report!

We'll look into it and contact the site owners as appropriate.

If you encounter other issues like this in the future, you can report them via this form or by emailing legal-tm-vio@wikimedia.org.

Thanks for the note and the pointer. Will do in future. Cheers

So this is tracked outside of Phabricator by WMF Legal? Wondering whether to close this task as invalid, as Phabricator does not seem to be the place to track such topics?

This is indeed absolutely confusing. I thought the point of having Phabricator is to have everything in one place. So there still seem parts of WMF using other ways for their daily operations.

Well, let us suppose that legal added this action item to their own internal issue tracker and close this as invalid.

Of course there are. :) The point of having Phabricator was to have anything engineering related in one place.
Other teams are free and very welcome to use Phabricator but nobody is obliged.
