Hey Michelle,

Thanks for the ticket, but I believe this is something Ops would manage.
Can you please create a Phabricator ticket? They should be able to help you
out.

Ops handles almost all “@lists.wikimedia.org” mailing lists.

Thanks,
Brendan

Hi All,

Can you help me look into what's possible with the situation described
below? Mike was our old general counsel and he used to use legal@ and
Foundation servers to run a personal mailing list (it was the wild west
back then).

Let me know if you need more info.

Hi, Michelle.

For some years we've been trying to harvest a legacy mailing list off
Wikimedia servers so that we can run it on Gmail.

It's Winedale-l.

There are a couple of ways we can do this, but no one has had the
authority to do it either way. One way is to give me access to the
list again so I can harvest all the original contact information and
then shut it down.

The other way is for someone else to do that (but for various reasons
I think I'd do it better, because I know the people involved).

Ultimately want we want is a list of names and addresses from the
Winedale-l list (and the much shorter list from the Weeklong-l list).

After these lists were
instantiated in 2010 I've never been able to get much responsiveness
on this issue, except that we did manage a partial migration back in
2014 or so.

Can you help?

(Note: the chief source of difficulty was that sysadmins changed all
passwords all at once--so I couldn't do this myself, and I had no one
to ask for authority to get my password back.)

Hi @KFrancis can you check if Mike still has access to mnemonic at gmail.com or if not what the current address is?

Hi,

His current address/access is: mnemonic@gmail.com.

Thanks,

Katie

Hi @KFrancis you can tell him to check his inbox, he should received a new random password from mailman itself now at that address. He should have also received those automatically back when we changed all passwords, but it's a new one now.

Dzahn renamed this task from Fwd: [WMF Office IT / Facilities] Re: Fwd: Help with Winedale mailing list to reset password of winedale-l.Aug 31 2016, 11:16 PM
