Description

Build sampling strategy for CE Insights.

We need sampling strategies for the following groups:
In parenthesis: (Channel, Type of sample)

  • Affiliates (email, entire population)
  • Program Leaders (social media, snowball)
  • Volunteer Developers (social media, snowball)
  • Very active editors (mass message, random sample)
  • Active editors (banner, random sample)

@egalvezwmf Based on our discussion, I thought I was creating the messaging, not the actual sampling strategy. Can you clarify?

Note to self: I told @egalvezwmf I would check how many wikis we're likely to be mass messaging people on. But I should do T150069 first.

A couple notes about MassMessage:

  • Almost all wikis have email notifications about user talk edits turned off by default (I checked 10, and only the Simple English Wikipedia had them turned on). So invited users generally won't get email notification of the invitation, but will get a web notification.
  • The only way I can see to track how often each link is used is to customize the URL using the page name or page ID magic words. But we'd have to do that in such a way that it would remain impossible to link users to survey results, and I'm not sure it would be worth the effort in any case.
