Bot edits and watchlist, when to remove bot entries from the list
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Given that "Group changes by page in recent changes and watchlist" is not turned on
And that "Expand watchlist to show all changes, not just the most recent"
When a bot does an edit on a previously edited page
Then the bot edit should be shown..?

What is the correct behavior in this case? Should the bot edit be shown or the previous edit? And how does this relate to the option "Hide bot edits from the watchlist"?

There is a discussion on nowiki: Wikipedia: Tinget: Skjulte (bot)endringer

Note that I just try to reformulate the problem described on our "Signpost", I've no idea what would be the correct behavior in this case. Still I suspect the correct is to show the bot edit as long as "Hide bot edits from the watchlist" is not set.

Event Timeline

For me, the correct behavior is to not display the bot edit, but the previous one that's not a bot edit, otherwise it will be a contradiction.

Own edits, minor edits and bot edits should be filtered first, and then display one or all changes (depending on your choice of "Expand watchlist to show all changes, not just the most recent") while still honoring the previous criteria.
