[RfC] Find a name for the special page that lists all placeholders considered "notable" enough to be indexed
Open, MediumPublic

Description

We need a name for the page that has a similar behaviour as Special:AllPages but displays the placeholders that fulfil a certain notability criteria.

Suggestions so far:

  • Special:MissingArticles (note that we are discouraged from using the term "article")
  • Special:MissingTopics (sounds like requested by users, other special pages use "wanted")
  • Special:NotablePlaceholders
  • Special:NotableTopics
  • Special:PotentiallyInterestingTopicsYouCouldWriteAbout
  • Special:SuggestedTopics (suggested by whom?)
  • Special:WantedTopics (note that there is already Special:WantedPages)

Event Timeline

@Lucie :
Could you briefly provide

  • Where this page would be accessed
  • How the notability criteria for placeholder items is/could be established (just to be able to guess what a user will see on that page)

Lucie moved this task from Incoming to To Do Next on the ArticlePlaceholder board.
Lucie added a subscriber: daniel.

So far the plan is for it to be very similar to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:AllPages even without the top part that let's you filter things. It's mainly for search engines to find the placeholder pages.
It can be found on the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:SpecialPages
The notability criteria is set in the source code and is not editable by the community (atm it's an item has to have at least 2 sitelinks and 3 statements to be notable)

I suggest Special:WantedTopics, analogous to Special:WantedPages.

I'd not go for Special:WantedTopics because that implies there is actually an editor who wants articles for these items to be written. That is not necessarily true unlike for Special:WantedPages.

@Lydia_Pintscher Hm, right... Special:PotentiallyInterestingTopicsYouCouldWriteAbout?....

I'd not go for Special:WantedTopics because that implies there is actually an editor who wants articles for these items to be written. That is not necessarily true unlike for Special:WantedPages.

Special:SuggestedTopics?

We could also approach it from the other side and state the lack of an article, like
Special:MissingTopics or Special:MissingArticles. This feels like a good match to our notability criterion of two sitelinks, which, if I get it right, means that two other Wikipedias already have human-written articles on that topic.

It should be a variant of the Special:AllPages name and be a clear reference to Wikibase, so Special:AllRepoPages or Special:AllRemotePages or similar.

@Nemo_bis but it's not *all* pages, but just "notable" pages.
