New or inexperienced users may not know that usernames must begin with a capital letter, and when trying to reset their password, they put in lowercase. Currently, when a lowercase username is inputted, an error message says that the username does not exist, although it does (in capital letter form).

This no longer seems to be an issue. I tested on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:PasswordReset, typing in "matma Rex", and I received a password reset email for my account "Matma Rex". I don't know in which change/version this has been fixed.
