MediaWikiChat should allow sub-bulleted lists in MediaWiki:Smileys for intuitive syntax
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Currently, everything is formatted like this:

* emoji-code emoji-file.{png|jpg|gif|etc}

Here's how it'd look like if you want to have multiple emoji codes to trigger the same emote.

* >:-/ NE24.gif
* >:/ NE24.gif
* >:( NE24.gif
* >:-( NE24.gif
* >:O NE24.gif
* >:-O NE24.gif

This gets extremely repetitive, something like this below with sub-bullets would be much more intuitive and efficient. :)

* NE24.gif
** >:-/
** >:/
** >:(
** >:-(
** >:O
** >:-O

could be implemented into T151514

I might suggest something more like

* >:-/
* >:/
* >:(
* >:-(
* >:O
* >:-O NE24.gif
* :)
* :-) smile.gif

as it would be backward compatible, making shipping the update much easier. (As the old syntax would still be valid)

I'm fine with that solution :)

Having just implemented that, I actually think that

* >:-/ >:/ >:( >:-( >:O >:-O NE24.gif
* :) :-) smile.gif

would be a better way, so I'll do that

ahh typed in the wrong bug number, new commit is here https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/329687/
