Write correctly and normally, not With Absurd Capital Letters Everywhere
Closed, DeclinedPublic

In Phabricator, some texts have Absurd Capital Letters Everywhere. This is incorrect. The correct writing is to write normally, like this. Furthermore, on Wikipedia, Absurd Capital Letters are a problem, and the Manual of Style advises against them. Writing the texts correctly in Phabricator would show the good example.

It would be nice to correct that.

Thank you.

Here are a few examples:

  1. Observed "Assigned To", expected "Assigned to"
  2. Observed "Show Older Changes", expected "Show older changes"

Aklapper triaged this task as Lowest priority.Oct 2 2016, 9:08 AM
Aklapper edited projects, added Phabricator (Upstream); removed Phabricator.

Personally I also prefer titles and headings to not use capitalization.
However we are using the defaults / presets included in the Phabricator software, and we do not plan to overwrite all those strings in the user interface locally for the Wikimedia Phabricator only. We try to keep local patches to a minimum. There are limited resources available to maintain patches.
Please feel free to request this change to the upstream code maintainers of Phabricator if you feel like.

I'm proposing to decline this task.

Declining as per previous comment - tastes differ and I don't see a problem big enough here to justify maintaining custom changes in our instance.

@Aklapper: There is the recently-added support for in phabricator. If people really want to change things they are welcome to go on over to translatewiki and make the changes there. The translations get automatically deployed to phabricator production approximately every 2-3 weeks, along with regular code updates.
