Email editors when their application is approved
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Right now we don't email editors when their application is approved (although they should eventually get email from partners or coordinators pursuant to the access grant process). We might want to do that.

We might also want to email editors when their application is denied - tactful people familiar with the TWLight user base should weigh in on that, though.

If we add a WAITLIST status (T147443) we may also want to email when that is set.

Event Timeline

@Ocaasi_WMF or @Nikkimaria or someone - can I have language suitable for these emails? (It's okay to include some variables in that language if it's information we're going to have - e.g. {{ name of partner }} or {{ username of editor }}.

We might want to be able to customise this message per partner, especially if we want it to include instructions for access (which I think would be ideal).

Do you think you'll need a wholly different email for each partner, or do you think it's basically the same email for everyone except there are per-partner blocks that differ (like instructions)?

In either case I need language suitable for the emails, indicating elements that can vary. I can't make further progress on this one without knowing the structure of the emails I need to send.

@Ocaasi_WMF - I will assign this to you for now as I need information to make progress. Feel free to assign it to the person who can get me that information, and then assign the task back to me when I have the info.

I think the eventual implementation will be the second case - basically the same email for everyone - but I'm not sure we're at the point that that can happen yet.

Right, because the intended result is that the instructions ARE basically the same no matter which partner. Now, is it worthwhile implementing something else in the interim? Not sure.

Draft sample language for approved, rejected, waitlisted.

Emails for approved and rejected are done. Waitlist emails are waiting for waitlist status to exist.
