On swift machines with many disks we've seen check_hpssacli taking a long time, likely due to the number of calls to hpssacli needed. The swift case is somewhat uncommon since all disks are exposed as raid0 so each disk appear twice as a virtual and as a physical disk, doubling the number of calls.
