Add interstitial for leaving Wikipedia when offline
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

TBD if this makes sense, but what if a reader taps an external link while we're offline? Maybe we should catch them and redirect them back to the article?

Event Timeline

I don't think this is necessary for testing in prototypes, but something we can explore later.

This task seems to be about some kind of "Wikipedia offline" project. Which of the many?

Thanks @Nemo_bis for noting. This task is a bit stale. I don't recall the context.

It's a fine idea to let users know if their network connectivity is down, for example while on a mobile device, that the link isn't going to work, instead of having the user find that out the painful way and possibly have the current article expire out of their browser cache.

@ovasileva should we decline this or backlog it with low priority?

Dbrant subscribed.

Clearing out the Reading Epics backlog, and thought I'd be bold. Please reopen if necessary.
