check stat1004 (or another identical R430) for PCIe expansion space
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Please see the associated comment T148843#2806890.

We need to check if stat1004 can fit this graphics card.

The card needs 2 PCIe slots, and is 4.4" wide by 10.5" long.

Please check either stat1004 (confirm downtime with analytics) or another same generation R430 to see if they can fit this card. Please update the parent task with results and resolve this task.

Thanks!

Additionally check the power supply output of these systems, as this card requires quite a bit:

Thermal and Power Specs:
Maximum GPU Temperature (in C): 94
Graphics Card Power (W): 250
Recommended System Power (W): 600
Supplementary Power Connectors: 1 8-pin and 1 6-pin

So it will need a secondary power connection, which I'm pretty sure we dont have in these systems.

The PSU output is 550W. I think it's safe to say that modifying the current server is not a valid option.

Can you advise how much space there is for a card in the system? We may end up adding in another card like the Gefore GT 730, its only 5.5" long (and 2.7" wide). http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-730/specifications

Please review the expansion space and advise how many inches of depth and width we have in the expansion bay, thanks!

We will be getting GPU as the stat1002 replacement, instead of installing one in stat1004. See: T159838
