Sure it's possible but it would not be very practical. What is the purpose of a shorter url? Just to save a few keystrokes?

Possible, yes, but I would not recommend multiple URLs to get to the same resource. At the same time, perhabs predicting myself, i would recommed for the use of the generic Wikimedia URL shortener that has seperate existing tickets and uses the w.wiki domain.

we got the .wiki domains back in T88873 which was a long ticket which was a continuation of an RT ticket and was pretty much declined. (just full disclosure here).

We have [[phab:T123456]] on wikis already which is short enough.

In general, a rationale is welcome in task descriptions why something is requested.

can you give more details? verify whether you're really trying https:://w.wiki or actually https://w.wiki ? (consecutive colons)
