Recently created enwp article title not listed as proposal in upper corner search box (but full results list it)
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The EnWp article Children's Railway Sakhalin is not available when I start typing it to the Search box: http://i.imgur.com/ThirTvY.png
The apostrophe is the same as used in the actual title. What am I doing wrong?

The task has been closed, but I reopen it as the article still does not appear in my search box: http://i.imgur.com/PSiOf7X.png

Aklapper renamed this task from Article's title is not appearing while searching to Recently created enwp article title not listed as proposal in upper corner search box (but full results list it).Nov 20 2016, 12:33 PM
Aklapper edited projects, added CirrusSearch; removed MediaWiki-Search.

"Recently created", so it might not be indexed yet. Why the hastiness?

It has been indexed now, no sign of breakage (just slower systems).

The Search Team is planning on upgrading to Elasticsearch 5 at the start of 2017, which hopefully should speed up how quickly new articles are picked up by the search box. :-)

Kf8 updated the task description. (Show Details)

There's nothing for the Search Team to do here. The problem of noninstant indexing should be solved properly by upgrading to Elasticsearch 5 in a few months. In the mean time, reindexing occurs in a batch job which runs roughly every 24 hours, so it should be indexed soon.

Deskana claimed this task.

This is working now, since the batch job ran overnight and added it to the index. As mentioned above, our upcoming upgrade to Elasticsearch 5 should solve this problem more permanently. :-)
