File: namespace name from the source wiki is used when displaying an image in an infobox in translation
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

To reproduce,

  • Translate "מגדל שלום מאיר" from Hebrew to Spanish.
  • Click the first infobox.
  • Middle-click the first image in the infobox to open it in a new tab.

Observed: The browser opens https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/קובץ:Shalom_Meir.jpg . This is wrong, because it's in the Spanish Wikipedia, but the File: namespace name is written in Hebrew.

The link should point either to one of the following:

  1. the source wiki
  2. Commons
  3. Spanish Wikipedia, but with corrected namespace: File: (English, global) or Archivo: (Spanish).

The first option looks like the most sensible—the source column must stay in the context of the source wiki as much as possible.

@Amire80, can you confirm whether this happens in version 2 of Content Translation?

This works well in CX2. It points to a valid page in the source wiki.

Thanks. We can consider this resolved with the new version, then.
