Create KPI Metrics Dashboards for Interactive products
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

This dashboard is a first step, but we need to draw a good view of the maps, graphs, and Interactive team's other products.

Per earlier discussion, we need

  • adaption: percent of pages with maps relative to how many pages there are
  • usage per map: how often users engage with the mapframe/maplink out of total views
  • usage per person: how many people engaged with the map out of total views

Event Timeline

@mpopov Why are we using Grafana for these dashboards rather than our existing dashboard technology that we use for all other Discovery user metrics?

Given the team is spinning down, it doesn't seem to make sense to build dashboards right now. Making sure we still have all the underlying data is important, as we may need to analyse the data in the future, but dashboards are not necessary.

Can you clarify what you mean by "spinning down"? I assume the Interactive products are going to continue to be deployed, so having metrics about them seems important, right?

I don't know the details yet. I assume Interactive products will continue to be deployed, but I do not know definitively yet. I will be making an announcement to the Discovery list today... but as I'm lacking details on the specifics, it won't say much more than what I've said here.

Having metrics about these products is definitely important. @MaxSem informs me that this task is not about metrics collection but purely about dashboarding; given that we may well have a limited time to wrap things up, building dashboards is not the highest priority thing to do. As long as the data is being collected, that's good enough.
