Incorrect label used in tabs/menus about creation protection: Says "protect" instead of "change protection"
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I have noticed the following problem on English Wikipedia:

  1. Go to a page which is semi- or full-create-protected, e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Zach_hart or https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Pagename respectively
  2. Be logged in to an admin account
  3. In the dropdown menu (vector) or option tabs (monobook) the message "protect" instead of "change protection" is displayed.

The underlying issue is that the MediaWiki messages vector-action-protect (resp. monobook-action-protect) is used instead of vector-action-unprotect.

Curiously the correct message is displayed for extended confirmed- and template-protected pages, e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template:TD and https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kaajal_Naskar&action=edit. Perhaps the relevant code wasn't update when these new levels were introduced?

I have not investigated other skins but I would not be surprised if they have the same problem.

I tried to reappear to this problem on Chinese Wikipedia(1.35.0-wmf.8 (rMWcc33978bf914)) and whatever which skin or language, this problem does not appear. I think it might have been solved.
