I'm not sure whether Commons is just having downtime (images have been slow to load all day, some thumbnails won't generate at all) or whether I'm having a specific issue (or how I can check).
I get this error when I go to upload an SVG file through Special:Upload:
An unknown error occurred in storage backend "local-swift-eqiad".
From the other task, which I combined into this one:
On Commons, uploads are currently not working. I've personally tried the Upload Wizard and Flickr2Commons. Both of them give an error of
Could not connect to storage backend "local-swift-eqiad"
Fae has tried to use the API, and also gotten an error.
This was initially reported on Commons:Village Pump at 16:54, 6 January 2017, with AKlapper (WMF) stating at 17:04, 6 January 2017 (UTC) that developers are aware and on it. The last succesful upload took place at 16:10, 6 January 2017 according to Special:NewFiles. It is now 17:59:30, 6 January 2017.

Resolved now, though the error message could have been more helpful (refer me to a page about downtime or the Phabricator or something)
