It would be nice to be able to type the donation sum in BTC and not only USD in the Bitcoin donation form
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

If I try to donate using Bitcoin, I can only input a sum in USD. It would make a lot of sense to me if I could input a sum in BTC, especially if I already have a Coinbase account.

This is probably an Upstream issue, but I'm reporting nevertheless, in the hope it will be addressed some day.

I showed this to @Ejegg.

Event Timeline

@Ppena we would need coinbase to make this change. It seems like a good idea. Do you think you could contact them?

I can ask them about it, but I'm not sure this would be the best option (and I think there's a reason for the current flow).

While in the flow, when you enter the USD amount you automatically see the conversion to bitcoin (see attached). Its just a matter to getting that to match the amount of bitcoins you want to donate. By allowing to enter the number of bitcoin (or having both options there) may be dangerous because donors may think they are entering USD (8) but enter 8 BTC ($8,000), due to the huge conversion difference.

Thoughts?
