Request for steward access on beta cluster
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

(I'm honestly not sure where to file this request. Beta-Cluster-Infrastructure is obviously the wrong tag, but I can't find anything better.)

The main patch on T12493: Setting a temporary usergroup (allow expiry of user rights via Special:UserRights form) is close to being merged. Once that happens, the plan is to test it out on the beta cluster to iron out any kinks ahead of deploying it in production. In particular, we want to make sure assignment of rights by stewards works as expected, with and without expiries.

I'm going to need steward rights on the beta cluster to do this testing properly. Could you tell me what I would need to do to gain access to those rights?

Depending on whether things go wrong, I might also need access to the DBs behind the beta cluster. What is the process for gaining access to those?

Event Timeline

Beta-Cluster-Infrastructure would ping folks more or less interested in beta among whom lot would have proper rights to add some user rights. So I guess it is appropriate!

What is your Wiki username? :}

Ah yes, important detail :) On the beta cluster, it's TTO

I think I managed to do the magic.

15:34, 27 January 2017 Hashar (talk | contribs | block) changed global group membership for User:TTO from import to import, steward (by https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T156489 . TTO is a nice person -})

https://deployment.wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/Special:CentralAuth/TTO shows that you now are part of the Stewards global group ??

TTO assigned this task to hashar.

Will file a new task about DB access tomorrow.
