Peek previewing on Picture of the day does not show the image
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

  1. Scroll through the Explore feed until you get to a Picture of the day
  2. 3d-press (and hold) on the image to show a peek-preview
  3. The image will not load in the pek-preview, only show a spinner

If you do this again on the same image, the image will have loaded (in the background/not while it was in peek). You can try this once per picture of the day, until it has been cached in the app.

iOS 10.3 public beta 2
Build 1069

Event Timeline

Hi, is there any way I can get iOS 10.3 public Beta 2 on a device to check? (Apple has not officially made it available as an update yet as of now)
That said, I have been seeing similar issues on other device/iOS version specs i.e. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T158991 so I'm not sure it's specific to iOS 10.3.

I'm on public beta 4 (the latet beta) and build 1073, and am experiencing this, so not just a "beta 2" issue. If that helps you get a version to test this against.

hi @Nicholas.tsg , this was broken on earlier versions of iOS 10 as well, so you can test on your normal test device.

Testing on iPhone 6s (iOS 10.2.1) and Wikipedia 5.4.0 (1081). According to this screencap when peeked-and-popped the Picture of the day now shows a preview image as expected (without opening the full article page) so it is fixed:
