Ideally, a new OOUI widget such as ColorPickerWidget would be great for replacing FanBoxes' current use of a YUI color picker. The YUI library has been discontinued since 22 October 2014 (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YUI_Library ).
This would probably be specific to FanBoxes, so maybe the ColorPickerWidget should just be in FanBoxes. However, if there are other use cases where such a widget would be useful, perhaps this could be implemented in the OOjs-UI core?

Just for reference: There is a core JS module jquery.farbtastic that implements a color picker.
