Like on the app and the Kiwix app, a swipe from the right edge should show the table of contents on the mobile site, hiding the TOC with a center swipe to the right.

Gestures on web are really clunky, I haven't seen a good implementation of it. I would like to see it first. just swiping a div perhaps on a blank page.

Currently the table of contents is not available this way. There is talk of redesigning this ticket in T97581. It's best to focus on the problems rather than solutions for the time being.
