Images over web or on disk
Closed, ResolvedPublic1 Estimated Story Points

Description

Investigate if upload-over-url is the desirable way to tackle these images, as opposed to KMB delivering the batch_1 selection on a drive.

Related to this verifying that ns5:lowresSource is the highest resolution version available online (as opposed to the resolution used for the KMB flickr upload which were slightly higher)

@Ainali My memory is getting really bad but did we conclude that upload-over-url was what we wanted (rather than images on a drive)?

Also would it be possible for you to enquire about the Flickr resolution images? My gut feeling is that these were a one-off trip to the archives to get higher resolution images... but I'm hoping I'm wrong =)

Yes, that was the unfortunate conclusion, the high res images are not readily available in bulk right now.

What information do you want about the Flickr resolution images? So that I make the right enquiry :)

So two follow up questions then:

  1. Is it easier to hammer the servers and get the web-resolution images than for RAÄ to dump the same images to a drive?
  2. The Flickr images were slightly higher resolution than the images available through kulturarvsdata.se. Were these images a one-off (i.e. someone went back to the originals to get higher resolution) or is this resolution available for all the images?
  1. Hammer away :) (It tooks two days of constant hammering two retrieve the information in the first place.)
  2. These were unfortunately a one-off. They are not readily available for all images.

Thanks. Then I'll make sure the script supports upload over url and that kmb.raa.se is whitelisted (if not already)
