Would it be possible to enable the visual editor on the wikiproject space in Spanish Wikipedia? It would help new users work together in articles in the wikiprojects' sandboxes.
To confirm, you would want the visual editor to be enabled on Wikiproyecto pages like https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiproyecto:Montañas?
This is easy to do if desired, but we normally request a community discussion ending in consensus in favour before doing such changes. Did such a discussion happen?
Yes, like that. We did have a community vote for all of Spanish Wikipedia (that is, not differenciating by namespace - the concern was to whom it applied, not where it applied): https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Votaciones/2015/Sobre_el_Editor_Visual Does this serve?
Not really, I was hoping there would be a specific request for this change (otherwise people who don't like the change might argue to undo it, and we're just going back and forth forever :-(). Could you start a quick discussion on the Café?
Hi @Jdforrester-WMF here is the discussion for deploying the VE in all namespaces on Spanish Wikipedia: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Caf%C3%A9/Archivo/T%C3%A9cnica/Actual#Habilitar_el_editor_visual_en_el_resto_de_espacios_de_nombres
Can you give more detail about what "enable the visual editor" means for you? Do you mean have it as the default editor? Or have the source editor be the default editor, with the option of switching to the visual editor?
I want to warn you, the visual editor is not designed with editing discussion pages in mind, and the Editing team has no plans to add any more features or provide support for that use case. If you have any requests to modify the visual editor for discussions, the team does not have the capacity to work on them. Are you sure you are okay with this?
The dicussion centered on enabling the VE tab in all spaces. Entry point of many new editors is through wikiprojects or events by affiliates - they are taught to use the VE when editing articles, but then have no option of using it on any coordination space, which resukts in a very confusing experience. What are the options here? Does the editing team have any recommendations?
