Description

Add a new source "search" to Massviews, where you'd enter the search query just as you would at Special:Search.

For example: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=search&srsearch=insource:%22Free-content%20attribution%22%20insource:%22UNESCO%20Science%20Report%22&srlimit=50&formatversion=2&srwhat=text for the search query insource:"Free-content attribution" insource:"UNESCO Science Report"

This will allow me to provide a reporting mechanism to show organisations where their text is being used on Wikipedia, this will hopefully encourage more organisations to make their text available under a Wikipedia compatible license. I will start using this function for reporting for text from UNESCO as soon as it is available :)

MusikAnimal claimed this task.
MusikAnimal moved this task from Backlog to Done on the Tool-Pageviews board.

This was really easy, so I just went ahead and did it :)

To use, go to Massviews and select "Search" as the source. Then enter your search query (such as insource:"Free-content attribution" insource:"UNESCO Science Report") and the project (such as en.wikipedia.org) and hit Submit. E.g. here's the last 30 days of data (as defined with range=latest-30 in the URL) for the aforementioned search: http://tools.wmflabs.org/massviews/?platform=all-access&agent=user&source=search&target=insource%3A%22Free-content_attribution%22_insource%3A%22UNESCO_Science_Report%22&range=latest-30&project=en.wikipedia.org&sort=views&direction=1&view=list

Note that at the time of writing, Consequences of Brexit for science is a new page (under ~48 hours old), and hence pageviews data is not yet available for it. If you check back tomorrow the data should be there.

Another caveat, right now Massviews assumes you want only mainspace pages (which I believe you do), but I will add namespace options eventually, along with listing other data like the size of the pages and the wordcount. For that I have created T159868

Incredible, thanks so much :) I will include this tool in a section on metrics on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Adding_open_license_text_to_Wikipedia

Thanks again
