Steps to reproduce:

Expected Result:
Enters multiple selection mode.

Actual Result:
Enters multiple selection mode, but a strange oval appears.

Found on Nexus 4 with Android 5.1 and a Pixel with Android 7.1.1 and the Alpha App 2.5.190-alpha-2017-03-16

Note: Does not happen on history.

Tested on ZTE Maven (Z812) with Android 5; this is fixed as the strange oval is gone
