Feedback on Upload Wizard (as requested) Batch overwriting to correct an upload mistake
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

I am a refugee from commonist- so I am still learning the nuances of UploadWizard (and phabricator) .

General impressions- good
likes-
----it pulls the geotag from exif, minimal typing
wish-list-
----image to expand on hover so one can do a final check on detail before committing
----copy-content to images below- should be on each image so one can refine the text for batches. Important for categorising
----copy-content to images below- should have an option for copying details from already previously uploaded image

overwrite should be available, an example

  1. I crashed Firefox ( and it took out dome rotates from four of the jpegs selected- their problem not ours)
  2. I switched to Chromium
  3. The selection was still highlighed- I uploaded (noticing that 4 of the thumbnails were wrong and ignored it)
  4. I checked the upload and four files were indeed incorrect
  5. Back to the source images and using Shotwell corrected the orientation and added a file I had missed (it went first)
  6. Back to UploadWizard on Chromium
  7. C&P in the details in first image
  8. Copy to all images- and I was blocked- as files already existed. Unselect and start again manually this was not what I wanted.
  9. what should happened-

--error flagged- do you wish to continue on yes
--another set of options
----Do you wish to overwrite the image and keep the description
----Do you wish to overwrite the description and keep the image
----Do you wish to rename you image now
----Do you wish to rename the existing image
----Do you wish these changes to be copied to all images below
__bug probably in firefox-
----an upload of 32 images crashed the browser

Hi @ClemRutter. Thanks for taking the time to report this and welcome to Phabricator!

Unfortunately this task covers several separate topics instead of only one, so it cannot be handled by developers ("Include only one problem per report") for planning, to update progress for each single issue, or for expressing the status of one single issue via the "status" field here.
Hence I am closing this as invalid as it mixes too many issues.
Please feel free to create separate feature requests / bug reports by following the guidelines, and feel free to check for existing UploadWizard tasks.
Thanks a lot for your understanding (and I apologize for the inconvenience).
