Currently visual editor is not enabled for the Wikipedia namespace on nl.wikipedia.org. I understood this is because it is seen as a discussion namespace. However, on the dutch wikipedia for example wikiprojects live there as well, and it would be useful to be able to use visual editor there as well (if you selected the beta-option).
I asked at the local Village Pump (De Kroeg) and generally there was support to enable this:

As explained on Freenode wikimedia-tech, the namespace contains discussion pages.
As the editing team would prefer to avoid a VE deployment on any namespace with discussion, the sensible move is to rename Wikipedia: discussion spaces into Overleg Wikipedia:

Not sure about how many of each exactly. Based on https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speciaal:AllePaginas?from=&to=&namespace=4 maybe 50-50? Not sure

That's only 30 pages to rename.
Some have subpages, like Wikipedia:Auteursrechtencafé/Archief/2013-10.
I have given it thought, and didn't start a discussion on this, as I expect it will have more resistance as people are to much used to it and not sure it is worth it. It's a pity it has to work this way.
It's totally OK to enable VE in a namespace which has some discussion-like (signed) pages. The issue is that VE isn't designed to edit these discussions, it's designed to edit content pages, so occasionally things will be odd/broken for people that try to use VE to edit those pages. If the community are OK with that (and it's a relatively minor point), we can definitely enable VE for the project ("Wikipedia:") namespace. You don't need to move discussion pages to "Overleg Wikipedia:".
This was settled by community vote at https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Opinielokaal/Inschakelen_visuele_tekstverwerker and should be done. @ppelberg, there's a similar task at T159711 that should be closed at the same time.
