Description

Please add the language code syc to the list of language codes supported for monolingual text values.

Usage example: Mani (Q203922) <nickname (P1449)> Mar Mani hayya <language (P2439)> syc

– Language code: syc
– Language name in English: Syriac
– Used script: Syriac script (Syrc: [http://scriptsource.org/cms/scripts/page.php?item_id=script_detail&key=Syrc)
– Where and when the language was used: Was used in Turkey, Iraq, and Syria. Became extinct in the 10th to 12th centuries. Still used, but rarely, as a secular literary language among followers of the churches listed.
– Wikidata item: Syriac (Q33538)

Event Timeline

This is a language to be written in its original script. Clearly entitled to be used in Wikidata.
