AbuseFilter on Commons blocks cross-wiki uploads but the warning message cannot be translated
Open, MediumPublic

Description

I've sent this report on AbuseFilter report page on Commons, asking why people have AbuseFilters messages in English when this is not the language they have chosen. Messages are available in multiple languages on Commons.

I've then created an account, set its language to French and tried to upload a file. The message not in in French on a French language wiki:

This have to be fixed to avoid confusion for newcomers.

matmarex added a project: MediaWiki-Uploading.

Hmm. I think this probably ends up using the language you have set in preferences on Commons, which is English for new users. Possibly all we need is to pass a 'uselang' parameter to the API queries on target wiki, matching the language of the user on the source wiki… I'm not sure if that will be enough, I haven't worked with this code for a while.
