@johl, can you elaborate?

@Trizek-WMF Unfortunately, no. Maybe @Lydia_Pintscher can help?

Okay, the two points were:

  • Item by title is rarely used anymore, we can probably remove it.
  • The Wikidata Query Service link goes directly to the query service, this can be quite confusing for new users (as they end up on a empty page). Suggestion is to change the link to Wikidata:SPARQL query service/Wikidata Query Help. This is probably something that needs to be discussed with the community. Also we need to check if the page is clear enough. One suggestion is to maybe add a large button to the query service on that page?

The target page should be https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:SPARQL_query_service - if this is no good starting point, the page must be improved instead of using another subpage.

I believe we need to kill https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:SPARQL_query_service and replace it with the portal. But either way https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:SPARQL_query_service is not a suitable page for linking from the sidebar. The portal should be linked.

There is some information in there that should be merged with the portal first, but all in all I agree that it should be replaced.

"Item by title" is now removed from the sidebar.
