FeaturedFeeds extension is installed on mediawiki.org.
So is this just about anybody following and doing https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:FeaturedFeeds#How_to_set_up_a_feed for https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Template:MediaWiki_News (the instructions confuse me enough already)?
If that happened, how and where am I supposed to find out that there is some RSS feed for that "News" box?

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki is based on https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Template:Main_page which uses https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Template:MediaWiki_News
So I guess we need to create https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Ffeed-mediawiki-news-page which should have the content {{Template:MediaWiki_News}} if I get it correctly?

Ah, thanks. Any idea which URL to add to wmgRSSUrlWhitelist in https://noc.wikimedia.org/conf/InitialiseSettings.php.txt exactly?
https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=featuredfeed&feed=mediawiki-news and https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Ffeed-mediawiki-news-page&feed=rss both seem wrong. And the documentation rather confuses me.

RSSUrl is for the RSS extension...

Unlikely, but moved Ffeed-mediawiki-news-page to Ffeed-mediawikinews-page in case extracting the feed name between dashes is brittle.
