Figure out how to do a better job of showcasing the work of the volunteers who were sponsored to come to the main hackathon from the pre-hackathons.
Could be during the opening?
Could be a breakout session?
Could be included on the event page?
What else?
Maybe to be included in the newcomers session? "Hi, I was a total newcomer just a few months ago, but then I went to that smaller hackathon in my country, it was amazing, I ended up writing X, and well, here I am! If I can help you with anything, just let me know."
Also, we can still experiment with this at Wikimania, right?
This was meant to happen in Vienna and did not. We will do a better job with this in 2018.
The pre-hackathons were mentioned during the opening and closing of the Wikimedia Hackathon 2017.
