Evaluation
by @Nirzar
Recognition
Problem: The 3D files need to be recognized without the need of interacting with them.
Proposal: Add badge to 3D file when it is embedded in an article or being viewed in Media Viewer
Heuristic: Recognition rather than recall, Consistency and standards
Visibility of interactivity
Problem: User does not know that they can interact (rotate, zoom) with these objects
Proposal: Use first time user dialogs to convey the interactivity
Heuristic: Affordance
Inviting
Problem: Encourage readers to interact with the files
Proposal: Use transitions on hover to make 3d Files more inviting.
Heuristic: N/A Reading goal
Usability
Problem: There are no constraints on how you interact with the object. User might end up in situation where they cannot recover from the interaction they have done, e.g. zoomed in too much.
Proposal: Add limits to zooming in and out
Heuristic: User control and freedom / Error Prevention We may be able to solve this with a perspective reset tool that automatically returns to the initial view. That way we don’t have to limit zoom.
Aesthetic
Problem: The objects do not look appealing to be interacted with
Proposal: Try out different treatment for 3D material. Use wireframes along with shadows to convey depth.
Heuristic: Aesthetics
Standards
Problem: Objects use off-brand material color
Proposal: Use color from Wikimedia styleguide [2]
Heuristic: Consistency and standards
