Find a Wikidata RDF data model parser/validator
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Check whether a Wikidata-specific RDF parser already exists.
This is to facilitate bidirectional conversions between RDF, the QuickStatements format (i.e., the current one suggested for data donors), and the JSON representation suitable Wikibase API calls.
More specifically, we need:

  • a validator for third-party datasets: they must comply with the Wikidata RDF dump format;
  • a converter from RDF to the JSON representation (see example): approved statements must be added to Wikidata. This can be probably replaced by parsing RDF into Wikibase API calls on the front-end side.

Event Timeline

Hjfocs triaged this task as High priority.Jun 8 2017, 10:11 AM

As of today, it seems there is no tool that validates the Wikidata RDF data model, neither in Wikibase, nor in WDQS, nor in Wikidata Toolkit.

Hjfocs renamed this task from Find a Wikidata RDF parser/serializer to Find a Wikidata RDF data model parser/validator.Jun 8 2017, 10:29 AM
Hjfocs updated the task description. (Show Details)

Note on Wikidata Toolkit: tried the latest release of the command-line client, but the code seems to be outdated:

Note on WDQS: the Munger could be taken as a skeleton to implement the RDF data model validator.

Thanks @Smalyshev for the fruitful discussion.

Hjfocs moved this task from Doing to Done on the Wikidata-primary-sources board.

The Wikidata RDF data model validator should be implemented.
