Create several (sub)projects for Wikimedia Venezuela
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hi!

We need several (sub)projects, listed here:

Subprojects (in Wikimedia-Venezuela):

  • WMVE-GLAM
    • Description: Coordinate Wikimedia Venezuela's GLAM Program
  • WMVE-WEP
    • Description: Coordinate Wikimedia Venezuela's Education Program

Projects:

  • #wikimedia-ve-tech
    • Description: Coordinate technnical tasks in Wikimedia Venezuela' Servers
    • Type: Group
    • Project policies: can edit/join: allow members of #wikimedia-ve-tech

Milestones:

  • #WMVE-S2-2017
    • Start date: 06-15-2017
    • End date: 12-15-2017

Changes in Wikimedia-Venezuela

  • Project policies:
    • Can edit: All users
    • Can join: All users

For #wikimedia-ve-tech: We need change the push/edit policies in rWMVE from Wikimedia-Venezuela to #wikimedia-ve-tech. (I create other task for this)

Many thanks in advance!

Event Timeline

Galahad updated the task description. (Show Details)

Projects:

  • #wikimedia-ve-tech
    • Description: Coordinate technnical tasks in Wikimedia Venezuela' Servers
    • Type: Group
    • Project policies: ACL Project (can edit/join: Allow members of #wikimedia-ve-tech)

Then it should be acl*Wikimedia-VE-Tech or acl*WMVE-Tech IMHO.

Adding Phabricator as only admins can create ACLs, as the options for that are locked for regular users.

MarcoAurelio added a subscriber: mmodell.

WRT subprojects, once you create them, all members of Wikimedia-Venezuela will be moved to the subprojects. Maybe you'd prefer milestones or separate projects. @mmodell can advice here I think.

Not exactly, please look this: T159660#3114071

I'll tell that to the Executive Director. For now, we need all public (sub)projects in Wikimedia-Venezuela.

Projects:

  • #wikimedia-ve-tech
    • Description: Coordinate technnical tasks in Wikimedia Venezuela' Servers
    • Type: Group
    • Project policies: ACL Project (can edit/join: Allow members of #wikimedia-ve-tech)

Please explain which underlying problem you think would get solved by creating an ACL project and restricting edit/join.

Not exactly a ACL project, only a project with restricted edit/join policies.

@White-Master: In that case, could you please explain which underlying problem you want to solve by a #wikimedia-ve-tech project with restricted edit/join policies?

The project will be used to rWMVE. This project can edit and push in the repository, for that need a restricted edit/join policies.

(explain about the project's use is here: T167585#3341307)

Ah, so what you call #wikimedia-ve-tech will never ever see any tasks associated to that project, but only be an ACL project for Diffusion? That was not clear to me...

Does "can edit/join: allow members of #wikimedia-ve-tech" make sense? How can you allow a (already) member of project X to join (=become the member of) project X?

The project is for WMVE's technical tasks (not be empty) and act as ACL project for rWMVE. It's exactly the same thing I asked for several months ago with Wikimedia-Venezuela (coordination of general tasks and act as ACL project for rWMVE). But now, after an organization (requested by the board and executive director) is needed a separate project for technical tasks.

Galahad raised the priority of this task from Medium to High.Jun 26 2017, 3:23 PM

We need this task. Also, we need a separate projects.

Aklapper claimed this task.

We need several (sub)projects, listed here:

Subprojects (in Wikimedia-Venezuela):

  • WMVE-GLAM
    • Description: Coordinate Wikimedia Venezuela's GLAM Program

Created: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/view/2862/

  • WMVE-WEP
    • Description: Coordinate Wikimedia Venezuela's Education Program

Created: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/view/2863/

Projects:

  • #wikimedia-ve-tech
    • Description: Coordinate technnical tasks in Wikimedia Venezuela' Servers
    • Type: Group
    • Project policies: can edit/join: allow members of #wikimedia-ve-tech

Created as https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/view/2865/ and as a normal project (as I don't see how this is a group project?).
I've set the Edit Policy to "members of #wikimedia-ve-tech and Phabricator admins", as it was before for Wikimedia-Venezuela (see below).

Milestones:

  • #WMVE-S2-2017
    • Start date: 06-15-2017
    • End date: 12-15-2017

Created as a milestone of Wikimedia-Venezuela : https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/view/2864/
Afterwards I realized that you did not explicitly state which project's milestone this should be, hence no idea if this is what you wanted and hence keeping this task open for the time being. If this was not wanted, feel free to archive that milestone, reopen this task, and clarify what was requested under which parent project.

Changes in Wikimedia-Venezuela

  • Project policies:
    • Can edit: All users
    • Can join: All users

Changed; see bottom of https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/manage/2677/

For #wikimedia-ve-tech: We need change the push/edit policies in rWMVE from Wikimedia-Venezuela to #wikimedia-ve-tech. (I create other task for this)

That's T167585, I do not have rights to perform that.

Don't worry, a mistake :)

Sorry again! @Aklapper can you create a project like Wikimedia-Fundraising-Campaigns?

The name is: Wikimedia-VE-Campaigns

And all milestones created in that project?

Many thanks!

Please clarify which milestone(s) you want to have in which project. Thanks.

  • S2-2017
  • S1-2018
  • S2-2018

Let me stress some unanswered parts of my question: Please clarify which milestone(s) you want to have in which project.
I guess that "S1-2018" means "January to June" but if that is not the case please also provide descriptions.
