Recently, the pdfrender main process used up to 15G of RAM. This is way more than the ~1G of RAM it typically uses. While it is possible that this situation was triggered by overall resource shortage (free memory on SCB nodes was very low several times recently), we should have limits in place on all services that avoid them impacting each other.
