Can't drag-and-drop text to rearrange (cut and paste) in Safari
Open, NormalPublic8 Story Points

Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Select text
  2. Drag
  3. See a "picture" of the text moving
  4. Release the text where it belongs
  5. The "picture" disappears
  6. Nothing happened.

Drag and drop seems to work in Firefox.

This is exactly the behaviour you would expect if you were reading an article, but not if you were editing it.

This bug appears to be specific to Safari, as I couldn't reproduce it in Chrome.

Turns out Safari is still garbage. Just calling e.dataTransfer.setData(..) within a dragstart listener is enough to kill the text drop cursor. Needs more trial an error bashing. *sigh*
