Design and submit Wikimania poster art for "What is Cloud Services?"
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

When our team panel on the new Cloud Services team and its products was rejected I submitted a related poster presentation: https://wikimania2017.wikimedia.org/wiki/Submissions/What_is_Cloud_Services%3F

Abstract (up to 300 words to describe your proposal)
Survey of the products and services managed by the Foundation's Cloud Services team which can be used by anyone interested in helping solve the technical problems of the Wikimedia movement.
What will attendees take away from this poster?
Better understanding of the difference between Labs (infrastructure as a service), Tool Labs (platform as a service), wiki database replicas, dumps, Quarry, PAWS, etc. Where to go for more information and how to become involved.

This poster has been accepted, so now we need to design it and submit the camera ready art by 2017-07-17.

Tips to create your poster

What should your poster have?
In terms of content, the kind of poster we are looking for is an academic poster, a presentation of information that is educational to others, and serves a learning purpose, rather than a promotional or marketing end. With the topic of your poster in mind, lay out the story in a way that it lets other people know what happened, what were the key results, and what is your key advice to them, if you have any. The following links have more information on effective storytelling and how to create posters.

Technical specifications for your poster

The maximum dimensions for your poster are size A1. Following are the technical specifications for the poster:
Size: A1 (594 x 841 mm "or" 23.4 x 33.1 in)
DPI: preferably 150-300 DPI
Color mode: Preferably CMYK (most graphic editing software programs have a color changing mode, and CMYK is great for lossless printing)

Printing Your Poster

The deadline to print your poster with our printer is July 17th. In order to get it printed, you should send it to clairec@pixgraphik.com. Please make sure your poster is a PDF file, vectorized, in high resolution. If you chose to print the poster yourself, please make sure to follow the poster dimensions... and don't forget to pack it!
