How to notify a user when adding a template for deleting?
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

In Tamil wikipedia, there are new users coming in large number, as we train many people.

Many of their articles are not good and we add a template for deleting those articles and adding a category for deleting.

We need to notify the authors of the article, when adding a delete template, so that they can improve and prevent deleting.

How to add notification in the talk page of the article or user's talk page, when adding a template?

Hi @Tshrinivasan. This does not sound like something is wrong in the code base as the functionality already exists (as far as I know), but instead like a support request (how to change settings, questions how to do something, etc.).
See https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Notifications/Notifications_types#Mentions for more information.

As Wikimedia Phabricator/Maniphest is for bug reports and enhancement requests, I'm closing this task as invalid. (But please reopen if I got something wrong in your request!) Thanks for your understanding!

I'd say this is a feature request, for a deletion tool that templates the page and automatically messages the page author. Such tools exist (QuickDelete on Commons for example) but none of them uses Phabricator as far as I know so you'll have to reach the authors in another way.

QuickDelete seems interesting. Will explore that.

Thanks @Aklapper Will use mailing lists for such support queries.
