Were you then presented with the OAuth login modal?
fwiw, I've just managed to log in okay on FF 55.0b7 (32-bit) Windows 10

The first time I tried to log in today, yes, but I can't really remember what precisely it said (I was forwarded to some page on Meta, right? I think I clicked a button that said something like "link this application", after which I got the error). Now, everytime I click "log in", it just gives me this error, without any steps in between.
