Request for NDA access for gdusbabek
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Hello,

Silicon Valley Data Science, my employer, is considering letting employees volunteer for the WMF engineering projects on work time. After meeting and speaking with WMF employee Dan Andreescu, it appears that each volunteer will need to sign an NDA.

Would it be possible to see the agreement we would be asked to sign? Specifically, I'd like to provide one of our senior managers with a copy of the "Trusted Volunteer Confidentiality Agreement" (https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/L2), for review.

Background
After taking a look around and informally consulting with a few WMF employees, it looks like we would be able to help with work the Analytics team is engaged in (ETL, Event streams, Hadoop wrangling, etc.). Initially, we'll look for a few tickets to test the waters--to get a feel what an external collaboration would feel like,
become familiar with the WMF ecosystem, and generally ensure that we're not doing more harm than good. If that goes well, we would like to have individuals (or very small teams) engaged on WMF projects as they roll off of client work for SVDS.

Kind Regards,

Gary Dusbabek

Event Timeline

Hi Gary!
(I added you to WMF-NDA-Requests so) you should be able to access L2 now (and/or sign :P ). Thanks a lot!

At some point we also need a 'comment of support' and C-Level sign off, hence CC'ing @Milimetric

@gdusbabek Could you edit the task description to develop a little bit what your volunteering will be? That will help to determine the next course of action.

@Dereckson done! I hope that helps fill in some of the information gap. I'm happy to answer other questions as they come up.

I'm assigning this to @Milimetric as per previous comments. Please reset the assignee once done.

Thanks @Aklapper, I support @gdusbabek's NDA request. His team has a lot of experience with the technology we work with and we would both benefit from collaboration. I'm cc-ing and assigning this to Nuria as per https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Volunteer_NDA#Get_support.

Aklapper renamed this task from Request for NDA access to Request for NDA access for gdusbabek.Oct 18 2017, 4:51 PM

We have not heard from these folks for a while now, looks like this project is not going to happen so I am going to close ticket.
